Call for Good Practices
The ISB Institute, a membership association and a knowledge centre for local and regional sports and recreation management, highly values the knowledge of representatives of the local sports sector. For the European Conference on Local Sports Participation we adopt the same philosophy. The conference program is ready, but all additional information is welcome. Therefore we are searching for good practices, projects financed with funds from the European Union and information about local sports participation from all over Europe. Some possible topics for good practices: - How to construct or manage (sport)infrastructures so that it is easily reached and used by disadvantaged groups to encourage their participation in sports (e.g. design of public space, reallocate the function of schoolyards, parking spaces)
- Which infrastructural projects were made possible with EU-funding? Which other projects were possible with EU-funding? The process of submitting an application of a project: tips and tricks?
- How to persuade minority groups to participate in sport and physical activity? How to communicate successfully with minority groups?
- How to cope with the influence of social background on the mobility of youngsters?
- A specific projects to get people exercising (e.g. fitness bus, fit-in-12-weeks programme...).
- How to reduce the financial threshold to sport? How expensive is sport? The tax deductibility of sport, VAT in sports...
- Interesting European networks for local sports management and social inclusion?
- Ways of embedding the attention for the sports participation of minority groups? How to measure sports participation?
- ...
We are also looking for global figures about financial aspects of local sports management i.e. the entry fees and renting rates used by the local services of sport throughout Europe, the amount of money cities and towns spend on sports per capita. Our last question is about our quest for similar organisations as the ISB Institute. Which organisation in your country is concerned with the interests of the local and regional sport and recreation field and / or serves as an umbrella organization for sport service administrations, sport councils, community services, sport infrastructure trustees, swimming pools and recreation centres? The contacts could be used for future cooperation or for creating a European network! If you can inform us about any of these items, please fill in the information sheet.
